Raimi's 'First Rule' gets greenlight. Spännande, jag tyckte boken var väldigt bra, så den här serien ska jag följa när den kommer.

Jag ska erkänna att jag inte läst honom, men det är just citat som de här (fler här) som gjort att jag aldrig gjort det:

Hissing, hackles lifting, the chicken's head rose. Kahlan pulled back. Its claws digging into stiff dead flesh, the chicken slowly turned to face her. It cocked its head, making its comb flop, its wattles sway. "Shoo," Kahlan heard herself whisper. There wasn't enough light, and besides, the side of its beak was covered with gore, so she couldn't tell if it had the dark spot, But she didn't need to see it. "Dear spirits, help me," she prayed under her breath. The bird let out a slow chicken cackle. It sounded like a chicken, but in her heart she knew it wasn't. In that instant, she completely understood the concept of a chicken that was not a chicken. This looked like a chicken, like most of the Mud People's chickens. But this was no chicken. This was evil manifest.

They raced out from the long shadows of the buildings and poured around the corner. The people off at the end of the street all turned when they spotted Richard's force coming. More people--men and women from the city--surged into the street in front of the compound of buildings the soldiers had taken oup as barracks and a command post. The people looked like a scraggly lot.

"No war! No war! No war!" the people shouted as Richard led the men up the street at a dead run.
"Out of the way!" Richard yelled as he closed the distance. This was no time for subtlety or discussions: the success of their attack depended in large part on speed. "Get out of the way! This is your only warning! Get out of the way or die!"
"Stop the hate! Stop the hate!" the people chanted as they locked arms.
They had no idea how much hate was raging through Richard. He drew the Sword of Truth. The wrath of its magic didn't come out with it, but he had enough of his own. He slowed to a trot.
"Move!" Richard called as he bore down on the people.
A plump, curly-haired woman took a step out from the others. Her round face was red with anger as she screamed. "Stop the hate! No war! Stop the hate! No war!"
"Move or die!" Richard yelled as he picked up speed.
The red-faced woman shook her fleshy fist at Richard and his men, leading an angry chant. "Murderers! Murderers! Murderers!"
On his way past her, gritting his teeth as he screamed with the fury of the attack begun, Richard took a powerful swing, lopping off the woman's head and upraised arm. Strings of blood and gore splashed across the faces behind her even as some still chanted their empty words. The head and loose arm tumbled through the crowd. A man mad the mistake of reaching for Richard's weapon, and took the full weight of a charging thrust.
Men behind Richard hit the line of evil's guardians with unrestrained violence. People armed only with their hatred for moral clarity fell bloodied, terribly injured, and dead. The line of people collapsed before the merciless charge. Some of the people, screaming their contempt, used their fists to attack Richard's men. They were met with swift and deadly steel.
At the realization that their defense of the Imperial Order's brutality would actually result in consequences to themselves, the crowd began scattering in fright, screaming curses back at Richard and his men.

Answer: Don't be fooled. The assertion made by these detractors is a note wrapped around a brick thrown through the window. These people are not fans. There are hundreds if not thousands of fantasy books that fulfill their professed taste in books. Why would they continue to read books they claim are bad? Because they hate that my novels exists. Values arouse hatred in these people. Their goal is not to enjoy life, but to destroy that which is good -much like a school child who does not wish to study for a test and instead beats up a classmate who does well. These people hate what is good because it is good. Their lives are limited to loathing and indifference. It isn't that they want to read a good book, what they want is to make sure that you do not. Ignore them.

Ja, att Terry Goodkind själv är republikan tvivlar jag inte på. Hans värderingar skiner igenom en del i böckerna, men jag uppskattar dem ändå (böckerna alltså).

Det där utdraget från Naked Empire, känns bra våldsamt när man läser det så där, men det funkar bättre i sitt sammanhang. De där "oskyldiga" människorna har blivit hjärntvättade kan man säga, och Richard fattar alltid beslut som är bäst på lång sikt - oavsett konsekvenser på kort sikt. Så, köper man inte det resonemanget så blir det ju fel.

Dessutom är Richard hjälten, som bär hela världens öde på sina axlar, och obekväma beslut behövs ibland. Men böckerna är våldsamma och obekväma att läsa emellanåt. Definitivt ingen ungdomslitteratur.

Som, en parallell. Jag gillar Orson Scott Cards böcker mycket, men hans personliga syn på livet håller jag inte med om för 5 öre (förutom att han gillar Serenity då).

Min favorit är ändå i första boken — den enda jag läst — där huvudpersonen blivit av med sina föräldrar i en brand för flera år sedan och nu håller hans bror på att i ett demokratiskt byråd bli vald under premissen att de ska förbjuda all form av eld. I en by mitt ute i ingenstans i ett förindustriellt samhälle. Tjenare.

Det finns inget i böckerna jag gillade. Eller jo, som Gor-pastisch fungerade S/M-scenerna hjälpligt, fast de var givetvis ändå underlägsna Houseplants of Gor.

Men jag tycker å andra sidan att man ska kräva lite av litteratur.

Jo, Terry Goodkind är nog inte en person jag skulle vilja vara kompis med. Men jag tycker böckerna är underhållande. Jag ser dock att det finns andra åsikter

Jag ger mig inte in att försöka förklara mer om varför den där "hugga ner oskyldiga" funkar i boken för då får jag nog skriva en halv roman själv och det ids jag inte

Jag tyckte delar av böckerna var kul. Tyvärr sumpar han det med att vara överdrivet långsam, upprepa samma problem hela jävla tiden, vara genomskinligt imponerad av krig (snubben är ju förfan det klenaste jag sett. Med hästsvans och psykopatblick och hela baletten) samt bitvis vara så jävla dum och tråkig att jag slutade.

Jag såg en sitcom igårkväll på jobbet, som faktiskt var lite rolig. Visst, det var en klassisk sitcom med den typen av skämt och den spelade på stereotypen av nördar hela tiden. Men jag skrattade högt flera gånger så jag ska nog se fler avsnitt. Big Bang Theory. Två nördar bor i en lägenhet och i lägenheten mittemot bor det en söt blond tjej som dom alla blir kära i. En av nördarna är neat freak. Han var roligast.

JAG BEHÖVER HJÄLP!

Jag håller på med ett projekt, och jag har en karaktär som jag måste rita innan nästa presentation i skolan, och det finns en skådespelare som jag tror skulle vara perfekt, men jag vet inte vem det är!!!
Jag har bara en vag bild i huvudet av mannen, han är typ 60, flintskallig med helkägg, amerikan tror jag men han kan vara utländsk. Han är en typisk klassisk skurk, har säkert spelat den rollen många gånger, en mäktig badguy med massa thugs till sin förfogan. Grejen är att jag inte vet om han är en filmskådis, tv-skådis, eller om han ens finns, han kanske bara är någon tecknad karaktär som jag sett i något. Han ser lite ut som Sean Connery i filmen The Rock.
Eftersom jag inte ser mycket film så tror jag att det är en tv-skådis jag söker.

caffe: Nej det var inte Tony Amendola jag tänkte på, men han är mycket häftig han med. Han är dock mer vis och beskyddande som jag ser honom, medan han jag letar efter är mer mäktig farlig.

Han jag tänker på har ganska stor käke tror jag.
